Watson Burton Helps Raise £30,000 for Local Charity, Newcastle United Foundation

Watson Burton recently showed their support to Newcastle United Foundation by arranging for one of their clients, Former World Boxing Champion Chris Eubank, to get involved in a fundraising dinner.

Back in fighting form at St James’ Park last night Chris helped raise £30,000 for the charity that helps children, young people and families achieve their goals through football.

John Devine, Partner, Watson Burton LLP said: “We are delighted to have been able to support the Foundation by bringing Chris Eubank to the North East. The evening was a huge success and we are proud to have played a part in raising funds to support the excellent work which the Foundation undertakes in the North East. Our sincere thanks to Kate Bradley, the Foundation Manager and my colleague, Iona Sims for organising a first class event.”

An Evening with Chris Eubank and Friends was a a star studded affair attended by 500 guests and a host of superstars from the world of sport including Olympic gold medallist James DeGale; rising star of the Middleweight Division and the North East BBC Sports Personality of the Year Tony Jeffries; former Toon stars John Beresford, Rob Lee and Paul Bracewell, Newcastle Falcons players Alex Walker and Tom Biggs, Eagles Fabulous Flournoy and Andrew Bridge plus Cricket hero Steve Harmison.

Also lending their support were VIPs, Glen McCrory, Durham boxing star Nigel Wright, Middlesbrough player Andrew Taylor and Blackburn star Jason Roberts.

Newcastle United Foundation’s first fundraising dinner was a sell out event. Hosted by Real Radio’s Justin Lockwood the night was a genuine boxing extravaganza complete with boxing ring and punch bag stations, ring girls and amazing prizes.

The boxing great said: “I am delighted to be able to support the charitable work of Newcastle United Foundation in raising funds to allow it to continue its excellent work in the local community.”

Kate Bradley, Foundation Manager said: “Our sincere thanks go to Chris Eubank and our generous title sponsors Watson Burton LLP for helping to make our first fundraising event a huge success. We also thank Lonsdale, Coors, Thomas Cook Sport, NC Creative and PPD and Brakes for their brilliant support and host Justin Lockwood for making this a memorable evening.

Raising £30,000 for our charity means we can help even more disadvantaged children, young people and families achieve their goals through football. We hope we can look forward to many more events like this over the forthcoming seasons.”
