Barney is a partner in the Property department and is a nationally acknowledged property lawyer. For the past 20 years he has specialised solely in property development work and all its constituent elements (planning, acquisition, construction, funding, letting and disposal).

Barney acts for national and local developers and has been involved in a wide range of retail, office and industrial schemes and town centre redevelopment/regeneration schemes.

Barney is currently advising Silverlink Property Developments Limited on the development of what will be the largest private development scheme in Newcastle upon Tyne, consisting of a £250 million overhaul of the historic Stephenson Quarter including a 250 bedroom luxury hotel, a smaller “boutique hotel”, offices, apartments, shops, cafes and restaurants.
