Matthew's experience covers a broad range of property work. Matthew has represented clients such as Co-operative Group, Wynyard Limited, Silverlink Developments, Lloyds TSB and more recently Brill Properties, Countrywide, Mansion Group, Niche Homes and Barrett Steel. Matthew relocated from Watson Burton's Newcastle office to the Leeds office in 2007.

Matthew also leads the property team in providing property support and advice to the Leeds office's corporate team.

Recent transactions / areas of note include:

• Business park acquisition in Camberley, Surrey for BVI based Watchmoor Estates Ltd
• Leading the legal teams on the programme of disposal of 200+ food retail stores for Co-operative Group. Matthew also represented Co-operative Group on the property aspects of their disposal of Associated Co-operative Creameries, Priory Motor Group, and a number of their significant superstores and department stores.
• Sale of former steel stock holding site for Barrett Steel in Gainsborough for residential development
• Continuing to provide support and advice to Lloyds TSB on a number of secured lending and refinancing transactions
• Representing the management team on the property aspects of the acquisition of Birkby's Plastics
• Representing Mansion Group and Niche Homes in their acquisition of sites for refurbishment or development of student accommodation and their onward disposal through various complex structures including joint ventures and off shore vehicles and investment funds.
